*I'm currently reworking my website and am planning on being back online later this year!
My name is Jonathan. I'm based in San Francisco, California and am an industrial designer at frog where I design products and experiences for some of the world's largest brands as well as emerging startups. I'm native to the DC/ Northern Virginia area and have a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from Virginia Tech. My primary goal for this site is to share my story as a young designer. I'll use this as a medium to update projects, sketches and photos.
Over the past few years I've had multiple opportunities to expand my experience as a designer. I've worked for a consultancy designing toys and outdoor storage units as well as a company that designs furniture for national museums and libraries across the continent. The latter opened an opportunity for me to assist with a furniture exhibition at Neocon, Chicago 2013. My fascination with the idea of "craft" also led me to apprentice for one of the oldest upholstery businesses in the Washington, DC area.
I am an avid traveler. From doing community work in Chad, Africa to designing clean drinking water solutions while traveling across India, I am not afraid of stepping out of my comfort zone to learn something new about myself and the world around me. I am constantly questioning how we can improve our global culture through design. In an age of rapidly developing materials, processes, methods of distribution and technologies, I believe that designing with clear purpose and integrity is paramount in achieving a smarter, more sustainable future.
I'm excited to share my work with you. Welcome!
